Dissolvable suture Vicryl Rapide 4-0 75cm FS2 needle. Pack of 36 pieces. Vicryl® Rapide is identical to Vicryl®  in chemical structure and coating and has the same good knotting and handling properties. However, Vicryl® Rapide is made of a polymer with a lower molecular weight, which causes it to lose its tensile strength faster. This property makes Vicryl® Rapide the ideal suture for all applications where the tissue only needs a short wound support, such as episiotomy, circumcision, skin sutures in children and mucosal sutures in the mouth. Vicryl® Rapide has on average still 50% of the original tensile strength after 5 days; after 12 days the tensile strength is reduced to zero. Since the resorption is by hydrolysis, only minimal tissue reaction occurs. Vicryl® Rapide is radiation sterilized.
